How We Help You

Here is a basic outline of how our surplus medical/hospital supplies program works for Private Voluntary Organizations (P.V.O.s).

We have a continuous availability of liquidated medical / hospital inventories that typically ship in 40 or 20 foot containers, (20 or 10 pallets respectfully).  These products are available because we have a number of distributers that make their overstock and surplus available to us for relief & charitable programs.  The product is always brand new and recently manufactured.

Typical values are as follows:

  • Distributor dealer cost (value) can be between $130,000 and $500,000, depending on your needs and budgets.  Typically each 40 foot container load has a value around $200,000.
  • All products with expiry dates will list the dates on the inventory and have at least 14 months dating. Longer dating is available if needed.

medical-consumablesAlso, rather then offering your field office a specific inventory that is already put together, you may ask your field director to create a “wish list” of product categories they are looking for (see example here).  This can be submitted with our “Request for Humanitarian Aide” Form as well (see examples here).  They should pick at least 15 or more categories so that we have the necessary flexibility to fill a 40’ container (20 pallets).  Once this has been done, we can then use this information to best choose where to source the supplies out of, and tailor the medical inventory to what is needed.  Following are the 37 medical categories:

  • ANESTHESIA KITS, CIRCUITS, ETC.
  • BANDAGES / DRESSINGS / GAUZE

You may pick part of a category if needed.  We will always provide you with an exact detailed inventory prior to the loading/shipping of the container.loading pallet of medical supplies

We also provide two additional documents which will ease the receiving and distribution of the shipped supplies.

One, a FOBA Inspection Certificate stating that the supplies are: first quality, unaltered, brand new, and approved for use in the United States.  (See example here).

Two, a donation letter stating the nature of this non-commercial shipment, further supporting that there should be no commercial duties associated with your shipment. (See example here).

We also can work on special projects that require large quantities of specific medical commodities.  This would be outside of the liquidated surplus program but at greatly discounted procurement cost.  For example, we recently did a project for 3 container loads of surgical gloves shipped directly from the factory in Taiwan to 3 different ports in East Africa.  The same for needles and syringes needed for vaccine programs in Central America.
