How We Have Helped Others

One of World Vision’s most important interventions in these areas is training Village Health Workers who provide health care for pregnant women and young children. Simple acts, such as breastfeeding or immunization can help children have healthy futures. You may recall that Zimbabwe experienced a severe cholera outbreak in 2008-09. The communities World Vision serves are still carrying out cholera interventions. child getting shot

We are so grateful for the medical supplies you provided for Zimbabwe. The supplies were distributed to Chidamwoyo Hospital and Chitsungo Hospital that are in World Vision’s Mudzi and Hurungwe Area Development Programs.

World Vision has been working there for 10 years, empowering children and families in the communities of Mudzi and Hurungwe. Health continues to be a priority area of concern, especially because of the high rates of malaria, HIV and AIDS. We are also helping to improve agricultural practices and education systems.

Our partnership with David Squires is important because he provides us with basic, but high quality medical supplies that can be used in cities and in communities like Mudzi and Hurungwe that are remote and that don’t have strong health services. Local hospitals and clinics can go months without any supplies – meaning sick people must travel long distances to find adequate care.

When you provide medical supplies, these resources enable health clinics to fulfill their goal of healing and preventing many sicknesses. Your support not only helps heal the body, but also the spirit by restoring hope to children and families who would otherwise face illness and suffering.

groupWorld Vision Canada (WVC) and David Squires have enjoyed a mutually beneficial partnership that has helped to transform communities from all corners of the world for over the past 15 years. In keeping with this tradition, WVC has identified another opportunity where D. Hunter Resources (now Charitable Medical Distributors), can continue to make its impact in the lives of underserved children.

Demu/Balanda, a small community in Zambia, has recently constructed a rural health center which aims to provide access to medical care for the local children and families. Once again, we look to David Squires to help supply this clinic with essential medical supplies, to ensure that this community can lead healthy, long and happy lives.
